Antecedentes

As a result of the Seminars in Philosophy and Cognitive Sciences of the UAEM --and the Symposia in Cognitive Sciences and Philosophy of Mind of the International Congress of the Philosophical Association of Mexico-- that Juan Gonzalez organized since 1999, the relevance of an international event dedicated exclusively to Cognitive Sciences, anchored in the Mexican context, became apparent. Thus, in the framework of the creation of the Master in Cognitive Sciences at UAEM (2009), the First International Colloquium on Cognitive Sciences was inaugurated in 2010 at UAEM. This was an event with an interdisciplinary vocation from the beginning, so we extended an invitation to other colleagues and institutions to join the initiative and make this a multi-site and inter-institutional event. In addition, the event was conceived with a biennial periodicity and originally on a rotating basis among the invited institutions.

Background

Objective

The Cognitive Sciences (CS) are devoted to the theoretical and experimental study of cognition (human and non-human), in any of its manifestations. They are distinguished from other sciences by being an inter/transdisciplinary constellation, whose objects of study are thematic and transversal to the participating disciplines. Here we classically find Philosophy, Psychology, Neurosciences, Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Anthropology and Cognitive Ethology, among others. In this context, this 7th International Colloquium on Cognitive Sciences 2024* has the following objectives:

   To be a face-to-face academic meeting between diverse actors, disciplines and institutions involved in CC, both from the country and internationally (we believe that after two years of pandemic, this objective is particularly timely);

   To foster inter/transdisciplinary dialogue and conceptual exchange from the different perspectives involved (theoretical, experimental, phenomenological, applied, etc.);

   To update knowledge and methodologies around CC, and to disseminate research advances around Cognition, with a use in different sectors of society;

   To continue consolidating this field of knowledge, with emphasis on Mexico and Latin America.

* This colloquium since its inception only admits speakers by invitation.

Cuernavaca, Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera

Es la capital del estado de Morelos en México y está rodeada por la montaña del Tepozteco, al sur de la Ciudad de México. Es un lugar privilegiado en el mundo, su clima es considerado el ideal por mantener temperaturas agradables durante casi todo el año, por eso se le conoce como la Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera.

Sus atractivos turísticos son diversos y muy variados, destacándose los siguientes:

El histórico Palacio de Cortés, con sus 450 años de existencia;
La zona arqueológica de Teopanzolco muy cerca del centro de Cuernavaca;
El Jardín Borda, que es uno de los pocos jardines coloniales que se conservan, cuenta con fuentes y un estanque, además de una bella vegetación que en su época eran desconocidas aquí en México, y fueron traídos del Lejano Oriente y de Filipinas;
La Catedral, antiguo ex-convento franciscano ahora declarado patrimonio de la humanidad por la UNESCO;
El Museo Morelense de Arte Contemporáneo Juan Soriano,
El Museo Robert Brady,
Los Jardines de México,
El Jardín Etnobotánico
El Museo de la Medicina Tradicional, además de sus múltiples balnearios.
