Philosophy of the affective mind: pain
Abstact
In my participation in the panel discussion, Philosophy of the Affective Mind, I will talk about a general model of the sensation of pain that encompasses its various affective-motivational components. Starting from the notions of pulse, drive and vitality, a theory will be put forward that encompasses an explanation from the sensation of pain that we may experience on the skin, through the desires to avoid some sensations, to the mechanisms that we identify as suffering.
