Dr. Germán Octavio López Riquelme is a Biologist graduated from the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM. D. in Biological Sciences with specialization in Neuroethology also at the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM and at the Arizona Research Laboratories Division of Neurobiology of the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, USA. He made postdoctoral stays in the Research Division of the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM, the Physics Department of CINVESTAV, and the Postgraduate Program in Cognitive Sciences of the UAEM. He is a founding member of the Center for Research in Cognitive Sciences and since August 2017 he is Full-Time Research Professor and head of the Evolutionary Cognitive Neuroscience area of CINCCO and founder and head of the Socioneurobiology Laboratory of the same center. He has pioneered the study of the neurobiological basis of social behavior in ants and other social insects. His main line of research is socioneurobiology: the neurobiological basis of behavior and social cognition in animals and humans. He has published the results of his research in indexed journals as well as in several book chapters. He has taught numerous courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has also directed theses and participated as a member of tutorial committees for undergraduate, masters and doctoral students. She is currently a titular PITC A, member of the National System of Researchers level 1, member of the State System of Researchers of the State of Morelos, has a Desirable Profile recognition from PRODEP; she belongs to the Academic Body "Epistemology and Cognitive Sciences".
